Almost all of us will have suffered from dandruff at some point in our lives. It’s a very common condition that effects the scalp, and is primarily caused from either excess dryness or excess oiliness of the scalp. Whether you only suffer from mild dandruff or experience excess amounts of flaky residue, dealing with this is not a great experience for anyone as it usually also comes with a whole lot of itchiness, irritation and discomfort. That’s why we’ve collated our best advice on getting rid of dandruff and give you tips on how to best manage your hair and scalp, so you don’t have to deal with it in the future either.

Getting rid of dandruff

The quickest way to deal with dandruff is to get your hands on an effective anti-dandruff shampoo. Since these are especially formulated to control and fight off the flaking, they should be used slightly different to your regular shampoo.

For specific instructions on the product use, make sure to read the product recommendation on the label itself. This should give you an indication of exactly how often it should be used to get rid of the dandruff. However, in general, anti-dandruff can be used more often than regular shampoo when trying to rid the flakes in the first place, or if your scalp is prone to intense dandruff. Make sure to massage the shampoo into your scalp, and also let the shampoo sit for about five minutes to let the active ingredients work their magic.

La Biosthétique’s Anti-dandruff Shampooing Apaisant helps to cleanse sensitive hair and scalps to remove up to 100% of the dandruff build up. It also works to prevent the further production of dandruff by targeting the dandruff forming microbes themselves, while remaining a soothing and calming product.

Preventing dandruff

While certain products can do an amazing job at treating the issue and fighting it off, prevention is the best treatment in the long term.

Firstly, while using shampoo, try not to scratch your scalp as this can cause further irritation to a sensitive or dandruff-prone scalp. Instead, gently massage the product into the scalp.

Be cautious of hair products that ask you to directly apply it to the scalp. Dandruff can sometimes worsen because of product build-up at your roots, causing further irritation and sensitivity on the scalp. Make sure that most of your heavier haircare products are concentrated on the actual strands of your hair instead of the scalp.

A great option that we recommend is La Biosthétique Apaisant Scalp lotion which is best used in conjunction with the Anti-dandruff Shampooing Apaisant. This is a leave in treatment which fight to stop the dandruff cycle and calms the irritation that may accompany dandruff production. It’s perfect for sensitive scalps, which is often experienced by those who suffer with consistent dandruff.

For some people, stress levels and diet can also be contributors to dandruff production. This can easily be managed by taking some extra steps to take care of your stress levels, and ensure that your diet can do the most for your hair and skin. Foods that contain zinc, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B are especially effective to improve skin and hair condition.
